Jeju

This summer vacation I decided to stay within South Korea and explore. South Korea has so much to see, eat and offer, that I don't even think I'll be able to see it all.
However, I had to go to Jeju Island. Everyone told me Jeju is a must and it is called Korea's Hawaii. I haven't ever been to Hawaii but judging from photos and other blog posts, Jeju doesn't seem as wild.
The trip didn't start off that well. After hopping off the bus, my luggage wheel ripped off which was exciting! Then when I checked the weather, I was fortunate enough to be getting rain every. single. day. YAY to luck! I was bummed and honestly didn't even want to go anymore because the whole reason was for me to stuff my face while laying on the beach.
But the weather Gods decided to bless poor old me and gave me the sunniest most beautiful week ever. I got so tan, gained weight, and came back extra relaxed.

I started off in West Jeju near Hyeopjae beach, then headed to Seogwipo and stayed there a couple of nights. I went to East Jeju for U-do and then completed the circle and ended the trip in Jeju city.

Okay! So when I was planning my trip to Jeju, I had to look on multiple websites for what to see in what areas and what to eat.
I'm going to compile a list of everything I did and ate and would recommend in what areas to help you guys out. :)

West Jeju-

Hyeopjae Beach (Gorgeous green and blue water surrounded by volcanic rock)
I stayed at the Hyeopjae Beach Guesthouse which was very nice and right on the beach. It was super convenient, and they provide chairs & tables. For an extra fee, they would rent out lounge chairs, unicorn floaties, & life jackets.

All of these spots were recommended to me by multiple blogs, people I've met and were given high praise.
*Hallim Park
*Donato's Pizza
*Sashimi

South Jeju-
Seogwipo
-So the thing about Seogwipo is that it's pretty big. Some things will fall within Seogwipo's limits, but when you look at the time to get to one place to another, it can take an hour bus ride.
I'm going to start from the west side of things that I did toward the city center.
KKodak Kkodak Guesthouse
Vistacay (World Cup)

Cheonjeyeon
-Beautiful pristine blue waters and two waterfalls you can hike to as well as a scenic view. Stairs are included, which is good exercise if you don't die from the heat. *entrance fee (around 2,500 won)

Cheonjiyeon
-Only one waterfall, but the walk towards it was a really nice park-ish area. Opened till late and many restaurants and juice bars before the entrance. *entry fee (2,000-3,000? I don't really remember, but it was affordable.)

Food recommendations
*Hallabon (Jeju's oranges)- There is a fruit stand that sells them. SO GOOD, but very expensive. 2 Hallabon for 5,000 won.
*Abalone Sashimi (15,000 won for the meal below)
Something Jeju is known for, and it is pricey, but if you don't mind moving seafood, definitely give it a try.

Innisfree Jeju House
This shop was literally in the middle of nowhere and took forever to get there via bus. If you rent a car, then it might be easier. The bus to take you there from the roundabout is about 45-an hour wait. I recommend waiting for the bus, and DO NOT ATTEMPT TO WALK IT. It may look like it's short and do-able, but it took about an hour. If the weather is super nice and not cancerous sunshine beating down on you and you want to do it, then go ahead. But if it's hot as hell scorching sunlight, don't do it. The bus will beat you to it. I promise you.

I went here because many blogs recommended it and there is a soap making work shop. I got there and the price to make the soap is 15,000 won+, and I just didn't think it was worth it honestly. They were selling soap there for 7,000 won, so to me, I felt like I was *Macamore voice* getting swindled by a business.

They do have a cafe inside the store, and I got a (15,000 won) red bean bingsu which was worth it! Would recommend!

North Jeju-
Jeju City
By the time I got to Jeju City, it was the last leg of my trip, and it rained. I was very bummed, but happy that it happened in the last days. So because it rained, I didn't get to check out any of the north beaches, but I did eat a lot of food.
Twins Hotel

Food
Sister Noodles (7,000 won)
꿈꾸는흰당나귀 Best Matcha Bingsu ( 13,000 won) DEFINITELY WORTH!

East Jeju-
U-do
(Separate post)

If you have time for Jeju, please plan a trip there! I would highly recommend it, especially if you enjoy outdoor beachy places, hiking, and eating. It reminded me of a nicer version of Florida. I definitely plan on going back and doing another trip for food again as well as hiking Hallasan.

Cheers,
Jo
